I started with a complete SEO audit for the client's business website. After explaining all of her website's issues and discussing the results with her so she completely understood the problems, I created her 30-60-90 Day SEO Plan. Here are the initial SEO services I provided for her:
The local gift shop's website was super basic, with very minimal text - it was moreso a template (in fact, it still had Loren Ipsum text live on the site!). The homepage was in bad shape, with nothing more than a headline and a couple product feeds to point to her shop. I completely redesigned the website, with a hero section, store description and what the brand was all about, Google Reviews widget, a completely new header and footer, as well as valuable non-branded keywords throughout the headers and paragraph text.
The previous designer really left her website in a bad spot. It was a Wordpress site with Woocommerce - Woocommerce that wasn't completely setup or even shoppable. I added Square checkout, added shipping methods, tax information, and the client's tax information (and changed WooCommerce's notification email address from her designer to her email!) and completely optimized her product shop. I optimized her most valuable pages (which, typically speaking, are the shop's category pages). Then, I wrote product descriptions, meta titles, and meta descriptions as the cherry on top.
I completely removed all of the placeholder text from her site, as well as deindexed all of her unnecessary and useless pages left by her previous designer, and added proper 301 and 410 redirects as needed to ensure she didn't get any 404 errors as a result.
Her business website was also missing key technical SEO implementations. First, I added Schema markup to her website and online shop for better SERP presentation and optimization - specifically, LocalBusiness Schema, Product Schema, and GeoCoordinates.
Second, I added an automated internal linking plugin (one that DOESN'T slow your website down). This allowed me to assign specific keywords to specific posts so that we can avoid orphan pages.
I also created multiple backlinks with local SEO value for her, starting with the basics like directory links and then performing backlink outreach.
I made sure her GSC was clean from errors that needed fixing, including 404 errors and a new sitemap.
Whether you want more foot traffic to your local store or you want more local users to buy online, your Google Business Profile is essential for your online success. With that in mind, I made a point (as I always do!) to optimize their 'From the Business' section so that it uses all available 750 characters. We included super valuable information about her business, as well as her shop's target keywords, including 'gift shop in [her town]', 'women's gifts in [town]', and more.
Then, I made sure her GBP's business categories were properly set and included all of the tags they should.
