Step 1: Getting to Know Your Business
I start by gathering important details about your business, including all your social media profiles, official logos, brand colors, and fonts. This ensures your new site matches your brand and speaks directly to your audience. It’s also SUPER helpful if you send me any relevant quality photos pertaining to your business that you would like to include on the site.
Step 2: Building Your Site Framework
Next, I jump into building your WordPress site. I begin by completely building the homepage. After that, I create basic shells for all of the planned additional pages. This helps us clearly see the structure and content needs for your site, and helps to visually ensure that your site’s structure is optimized for SEO. On top of that, it helps me ensure that all URL slugs are also optimized.
Step 3: Designing and Filling the Pages
With each page framework in place, I dive into the design details. This means building out the page, section by section to clearly define the content required. Once each section is set, I write compelling, targeted copy tailored specifically for your audience. Unless otherwise requested, we typically opt for using casual & friendly language while still remaining informative.
Step 4: Visual Appeal & Functionality
Great visuals make a big difference. I make sure each page looks sharp and professional, using high-quality images that reflect your brand. On top of that, I’ll add loading optimization effects and visual effects where appropriate so that your site looks GREAT! During this step, I also verify that every button is properly linked to its correct destination.
Step 5: SEO & Final Checks
Before launching your site, I optimize each page for search engines. This includes adding appropriate H1 headers and crafting optimized meta titles and descriptions using Yoast or Rank Math (especially useful for local businesses). Your site won’t just look good—it’ll perform well in search results too.
Step 6: Add Tracking & Send the Site Live
Once the site is completed, I typically create a Google Search Console and Analytics accounts for the new site (obviously, not if these are already set up on your end!). This is typically also connected directly to your WordPress dashboard via the Google Site Kit plugin – that way you can view your traffic details without having to open a new tab or window; it’s all viewable right in the backend of your WordPress.
